Booth: a dystopian adventure. A great indie from an unknown developer
Today I will tell you about the wonderful indie game Booth: A Dystopian Adventure.
The release of the game took place almost a month ago on Steam, July 22, 2020. On this day, I decided to see what was new in Indie section, and then my eye caught on the logo. It looks interesting, I thought and followed the link.
A brief description can be translated something like this: “2036. In this hungry, full mysteries of the world, an order has come, the main value of which is food. Living in a food inspector, you strive to find the truth outside the borders “
Looking at the screenshots and comparing them with a description, the image of Papers, Please on maximum shoes immediately appeared (which was further confirmed).

Gameplay
You can choose 3 complexity levels. The first level of complexity allows you to skip working episodes and go through the game as a visual novel (the developer does not recommend this at the first passage). The remaining 2 difficulties – light and high. Playing at a mild level I did not meet any special problems during the passage, there was enough money for everything, and any level could be replayed. I can’t say anything about the high difficulty.
After the start of the game, we find ourselves in a strange place, talk to incomprehensible creatures – thus the tutorial is furnished here. They explain to us the main mechanics of the game – the inspection of products. You will learn that everything has weight and everything has color to determine the product parameters on the table you have a tester and scales. As you pass, you will have to carry out other manipulations, such as conducting food sterilization, report on the appearance of unidentified items and t.p.

Our hero’s name is Ned, together with him you will go through the final interview before applying for work as a food inspector. Together with him you will go to the booth.
As you already understood, we work in the booth (but not in the usual, more in the plot section) from which we cannot get out, from here the question is, what we will do at all besides checks? Like any person, we need to eat. And you can wonder: what is the problem? We have a moving tape here, along which a bunch of food passes every day. And the problem is that theft can be obtained from a higher authorities, and indeed is it worth the patience of a big brother? Do not think that you can’t take anything, just the same way and I will even ask you to steal something, but here you should decide whether it is worth doing it. Therefore, you have to spend honestly earned money on:

2) on lotteries, delicious ones, books and other nishtyaks (as you can buy Gameboi?) the auditing officer who periodically comes to visit you.

I think many of you remember how Papers, please with a rather strange idea (sitting on a checkpoint and checking documents) tightened many with its repetitive gameplay, a dense atmosphere, but most importantly – meetings with interesting characters. The only thing that upset that you could not conduct a dialogue with them. In Booth you can conduct a dialogue, choose response options. In addition, an important mechanics for the plot is relations with the characters.
After a hard day’s work, you should have a bite, read the book and go to bed, because tomorrow we will have a new hard work on.

Plot
Events are unfolding a fictional world in which serious problems with products, they are not enough for everyone, all live poorly. Ned lives in the state of Eden when he was a teenager, he lost his father. People came behind him in civilian clothes. Despite such a spot in his biography, he was nevertheless accepted for the service of the food inspector, which is very prestigious.
Boats are on the open sea, at altitude. All inspectors are delivered there in uniform, you can’t get out of there, there is no transport at the food check point. Despite this, our hero wants to escape from Eden.
Comrade, follow the interrogation
In attempts to find out more information to escape, Ned will meet new people, an old familiar. Everyone is interesting in their own way, with several of them you will have an interesting relationship in which you, as a player, can take a direct part thanks to the dialogue system. In addition to choosing an answer, you can show any object that you have with you or is in the locker.
The game has an interesting world, a few endings, a wonderful art (if you are not Hater Pixel Arta), the atmosphere of anti -utopia and mystery, a multidimensional story (believe me, everything is far from as simple as it seems).
If you miss the interesting indie projects with a nonlinear story, then take it without thinking, besides, the price is only 259r. At the moment, the game has only 1 serious drawback – it is not translated into Russian. If you know English at an average level, you can go through the game and understand the meaning without problems. The other day, work on localization has begun, how much time it will do not say yet. If anyone will be interested, then I will keep up with how the translation is moving.

Guanpeng Chen – Chinese indie developer living in Japan. He did everything except music in the game, his friend was engaged in her.
· To create the game, Game Maker Studio 2 was used (I was shocked when I found out what the game was made).
· The development was spent almost 3 years. Development was carried out in his free time from work.
· In the game 8 endings (including death). 4 of them are the main.
· The game will take 7-8 hours.
